Star & Asal's Story

1. What made you choose to adopt not shop?

Every dog deserves a loving home and a good long life... unfortunately in my opinion there are too many breeders out to make money and not concerned about the outcome of the pups they sell.

2. What are Star & Asal's backstories?

Star who I fell in love instantly on seeing her photos at Muscat Dog Adoption. She was found with her siblings in a derelict house and they first boarded with Maryam. 'Star' arrived here in UK 9th July 2023. Asal was found on the streets as a puppy and taken in by Maryam before coming to the farm. My husband fell in love with his photos and Asal arrived here in UK 7th February 2024.

3. How was your adoption process experience?

On enquiry we were emailed the next morning and was talked through the full process by Elizabeth Wood who was very helpful with all information we needed. Then we had a good conversation with Laura Cooper who also supported and fully explained the adoption process, travel arrangements, health certificates etc. The whole process was very well managed, and absolute joy.

4. What were some challenges, and how did you overcome them?

Star was quite nervous to begin with which we fully expected... being in a different climate, household appliances noises, walking in built up areas but with plenty of praise and reassurance she has conquered most of her fears and grown in confidence even more since Asal arrived in February.

Asal arrived like a 'whirling dervish' so confident to start with a bouncy energetic 16 month old teenager 😂 He just needed to learn a few boundaries and manners instead of barging in. The first week together was about Star telling Asal that she doesn't want to play 24/7 but they have a very good relationship and don't want to be far away from each other now so I say we have a well balanced pair.

5. How did your wadi change your life?

Having Star and Asal has filled an empty void in our lives, and the conversations we have with people we meet whilst out and about with them are lovely as people are interested in their stories.

6. What is your favourite thing about your wadi?

Oh the joy, laughs and the development is incredible. They are so lovable and well behaved mixing with people, running off lead together and running with other breeds. So entertaining even whilst they sleep and when invited into a shop last month were impeccably behaved and given treats by the shop owner of course who was delighted with the pair of them. Our world is now complete... a wonderful Wadis experience ❤️⭐🐾💙🐾
